Why it is so difficult to change anything in France? The French legislators just voted a law to authorize work in Sunday. That can’t be so simple! The law authorize only 500 cities and 30 tourist areas and the for non-food store. For me it was the food store I needed open on Sunday !
In Paris, I was used to work more than 50 hours per week, beginning at 9am and never finishing before 9pm. How was it possible to do any shopping on the week? Every store closes at the latest at 8pm. So you have to do all your shopping on Saturday, run all day to buy the things you need. And if, by some misfortune, you have plans for Saturday, your fridge is going to be empty for the next week.
I don’t understand why it is complicated. Last year some people in France demonstrated to have the possibility to work on Sunday. It’s more money for them, each working Sunday mean a double pay. A lot of people understand their interest in this change. The student are one of them, they could finance their studies with this reform.
The habit of life is changing; it would be great if the French legislation could change too.
